Lore Archive
A dedicated section for the lorebrarian of the Ezri community to write down every piece of confirmed Ezri canon and personal speculation.

Important terminology:
The Key refers to the physical key that Ezri carries around her waist.
The Keyhole refers to the hole located on Ezri's neck.
The Door refers to the door that Ezri may be a guardian of.
Confirmed via lore questions:
What does The Keyhole do?
"It opens The Door."
Why does Ezri have The Keyhole?
"There isn't anybody else that could have it. It is something that only I can have."
Does The Door reside in a physical location?
"No."
Lore snippets in song covers:
living millennium
NOT A BOX
BUT A DOOR
少女レイ
now, standing in an abyss of despair,
you've got nowhere to go, do you?
just look at me and me only
It repeats again;
Potential lore drops during streams:
- Lockpicking The Keyhole hurts Ezri.
- Ezri is not a human.
- She has claimed to be a mushroom.
- She said "I'm still here!" when jokingly told she sold The Key.
- The spores are sexless, but Spore is gendered.
- Spore is immortal.
- "Spore can't die because I'd be sad."
- Irze is completely unrelated to the Ezri canon.
Pure speculation:
- Regarding "being the only one who could have The Keyhole," it could be that she is ancient (see: Origin Theory), she was created for this specific purpose (see: Vessel Theory) or some other sort of eligible quality.
- She has mentioned she is "older than I would expect."
- Regarding "not being a human," it could be that she used to be and no longer is human, or that she has never been one to begin with.
- This is the main difference between Origin Theory and Vessel Theory.
- Whatever it is The Door is keeping on "the other side," it must be significant enough for Ezri to never even consider leaving The Key outside of her grasp.
- Being that The Door does not exist in a physical plane, the chances of it holding something physical behind it are narrow.
Potential theories:
Origin Theory (or "Guardian" Theory)
Origin Theory builds itself on the assumption that Ezri existed long before the world as we know it existed, becoming the carrier of The Key and The Keyhole. This being will now be referred to as The Guardian.
The origins of The Guardian could go one of two ways: either Ezri was a human that was selected to fulfill this role, or she was the creator that chose herself to be The Guardian.
The former interpretation is more likely if we consider the select lyrics in 少女レイ (Shoujorei), saying "just look at me and me only," implying the existence of a second sentient being in Ezri canon (or a more artistic interpretation that she's talking to herself, carrying on the burden of guarding The Door while speaking to her discarded humanity).
Note from the lorebrarian: This is the theory that I personally believe to be the most likely option given the information that we know.
Vessel Theory (or "Lock" Theory)
Vessel Theory builds itself on the assumption that Ezri was created to be the carrier of The Key and The Keyhole. This vessel will now be referred to as The Lock.
Just like Origin Theory, this seems like a plausible explanation because of the lyrics in Shoujorei, meaning that the creator of The Lock is the one spelling those words to Ezri herself.
Since that would mean that the song Ezri is singing wouldn't be sung by Ezri(?), there's an alternative interpretation of this theory: there is a timeloop.
A timeloop would make it possible for Ezri to be both the creator and the vessel, creating a new "her" from the mycelium to keep whatever lays behind The Door locked forever.
Note from the lorebrarian: A more meta piece of evidence to sustain this theory is the different models that Ezri creates, each of them being a "vessel."
Toxin Theory (or "Spore" Theory)
Toxin Theory builds itself on the assumption that the spores are mind-controlling or reality-altering organisms that CREATE the reality that this "lore" resides in.
The leading hint for this theory is the "Lore" redeem in Ezri's Twitch channel, requiring a million spores to be unlocked.
The power of a million spores could give way for this reality to fully materialize or, alternatively, take over the minds of all present individuals and override their perception of reality.
Note from the lorebrarian: While I prefer the other theories better, it's important to write down all of our options. This option would also mean that the lore is just what we make of it and not something set in stone, which I hope isn't the case.
